Traditional artist communities in rural Bengal developed community-owned folk-art centres and museums for practice, learning, training, demonstration and exchange. Village festivals and creative-enterprise work have given traditional crafts and performing arts contemporary audiences and income opportunities while keeping the practices active in the communities that hold them.
